Hopping on a jet from Fontana, CA with Tony Stewart, Kyle Larson christened the Stockton 99 Speedway in the best way possible, beating one of California’s best, Tim Kaeding, and picking up his first World of Outlaw win of the season.
“I can’t thank Tony Stewart enough for getting me up here, and Paul Silva for giving me the opportunity to drive his strong car,” Larson said.
Going out late in time trials, Larson timed the Lucas Oil Products/A.R.T./Pro Bilt Construction backed entry in third quickest against the 44 cars entered.
Starting fourth in his heat, the Elk Grove, CA driver wasted no timed getting to the front, and took the top spot from Carson Macedo, and went on to win his heat, and put his Palmero Properties/Finley Farms/FK Rod Ends machine into the Dash.
A third place finish in the dash, lined him up in the second row, alongside Tony Stewart, for the 30-lap feature event.
Jumping into second on the start, Larson chased down Paul McMahan to overtake the lead on the third lap.
On the 10th lap, Tim Kaeding, worked the top shelf, and took the top spot away from him, but the 20-year-old sensation kept TK in his sights, and stalked him for the next seventeen laps.
With single file restarts called for all night, Larson was finally able to get by Kaeding, on the 27th lap, although TK was relentless.
With TK breathing relentless down his back, Larson maintained the point, and went on to pick up with win, in front of quite an amazing crowd.
“All the people that help out Paul are amazing, and it is truly and honor to drive for him,” he said. “This car was awesome all night, and I can’t wait to drive it again.”
