Flirting with victory on Saturday night, Lance Dewease had a right rear blow out on him, causing him to wreck, thus ending his night on a sour note at Port Royal.

“It’s a shame, “ he said. “We had a great racecar on Saturday night and were right in position to challenge for the win, but I do want to congratulate Dave Blaney on picking up the win.”

By way of the pill draw, Lance lined his Lelands.com/Conduit Connections/Pasquirellos Auto Shop No.27 up on the front row of his heat, and proceeded to finish second, and put his machine in the redraw.

Lining up fifth for the 25 lap feature event, Dewease would gain two spots before the race got underway as Mark Coldren lost control and took Mike Erdley out with him.

On the restart, Dewease ran in the third spot as he chased down second running Rick Lafferty, and early leader, Cliff Brian.

On a lap 12 restart, Dewease came alive as he put his Penske Racing Shocks/Wings Unlimited/Brown and Miller machine on the top shelf, and drove around Lafferty for second, and began applying heavy pressure to Brian.

Catching Brian on the 19th lap, Dewease’s right rear exploded heading into turn one, sending the Keizer Wheels/DMI Racing/Schoendfeld Headers machine into a series of flips, ending his night.

“I just hate it for all of my guys,” he said. “They have been working so hard all year,  I really wanted to get them the win, but were close, and hopefully we can get it this weekend.”

Friday night, Dewease opened his Williams Grove season up as the track hosted their first race of the year.

It was a less than desirable night for the Fayetteville, PA driver.

“We were flat bad, at Williams Grove on Friday night,” he said.

Starting sixth in his heat, Dewease was able to score a third place finish, and start the feature in the fifth spot, but that was as good as the night got.

In the feature, Dewease struggled to get moving forward, and lost a few spots as they race went on, and came away with a ninth place finish.

“If only we had the car on Friday that we had on Saturday,” he said with a smile.

Dewease and his Heffner Racing team would like to thank Lelands.com, Conduit Connections, Pasquirellos Auto Shop, Penske Racing Shocks, Wings Unlimited, Brown and Miller Racings Solutions, Keizer Wheels, DMI Racing Components, Schoenfeld Headers, Hanks Performance Products, FK Rod Ends, Viper Venom fuels, ATL Fuel Cells, Schaeffer Racing Oils, Astro Titanium, Tom Shockey Collision, Kirkey Racing Seats, Michael Graphics, Valley Forge Inc., Bell Helmets, WRT Web Designs, and WRT SpeedWerx for their support.
