“We were just bad out of the box,” JA said. “We struggled in qualifying, and then we chased it all night, and to top it off, we had a shock go bad in the feature.”
Hoping to continue his success at the Merced Speedway, JA struggled early as he was the slowest in the night’s hot lap sessions, before timing his Williams Motorsports No. 0 in 17th quickest.
With just 31 cars in the pit area, a 12-car-inversion was used, and Allard found himself starting sixth in his heat race.
Fighting his car in his heat, Allard lost a spot, and finished in the seventh spot, where he was then forced to go through the Last Chance Showdown for a shot at making the feature.
Starting fourth in the LCS, JA was able to get to the bottom of the track when the green flew, and held on to this fourth spot.
Staying glued to the bottom, Allard would finish fourth, and transfer to the 40-lap feature event.
Starting 17th in the feature, JA got off to a tough start, and he fell back in the field, nearly to last.
While battling in the back of the pack, JA’s handling got worse, and he pulled off the speedway ending his night with a 23rd place finish.
“It was one of those night’s where you wanted to scream, and pull your hair out,” he said. “We were not very good all night, and that will drive you nuts. All of my guys rolled up their sleeves and went to work every chance we had, I just hope we can get better for next weekend.”
