Stewart, OH — (April 15, 2013) — Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio has postponed its 2013 racing season opener to at least Friday, April 26.  The speedway was set to open this Friday, however, some mechanic issues with pumps for the watering system have delayed efforts to properly work the track.  Opening day is tentatively set for April 26 pending some good weather to complete all necessary preparations for the racing season. The racing slate features Octane Race Products AMRA Modifieds, the powerful Kryptonite Race Cars AMRA Late Models, and Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association Outlaw 410 sprint cars. The first Mini-Wedge Race will be May 3, 2013. Check the track website and its facebook pages for up-to-date info on the opener.
Skyline Speedway and the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association (OVSCA) held its annual awards banquet last fall at the Comfort Inn in Mineral Wells, WV, where fans, drivers, crews, owners and families were treated to a fine dinner and an elaborate awards fete. For Skyline Speedway drivers, over $15,000 in cash and prizes were awarded at the 4th annual event under Billy Jarrell’s ownership. The OVSCA portion of the banquet was the third for the three-year-old Hoosier Tire sprint car organization, that crowned Marietta, Ohio Dave Dickson as its champion. Another $15,000 in prizes and contingencies went to the top 15 in that organization.
Another great point fund, one of the richest west of the Mississippi, will be in store for drivers during the 2013 campaign. Track owner Billy Jarrell traditionally awards each championship driver a new chassis for their efforts in each division. 2012 Champs were Jimmy Stinson, Vandalia, Ohio-Sprints; Chris Garnes, Evans, WV-Late Models; and Jeremy Berwanger, Murray City, Ohio-Modifieds.  WRA Mini Wedge driver Skylar Zimmerman was the 2012 champ in that division.
