Chase Stockon leads the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Cars to a pair of Indiana races this weekend, holding an eight-point lead over Hunter Schuerenberg in the latest standings.
Last Saturday’s “Don Branson/Jud Larson Classic” at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio fell victim to inclement weather, with freezing temperatures forcing the cancellation.
This Friday night’s race is at Gas City I-69 Speedway and Saturday’s race is at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville.
Last year’s results would favor Schuerenberg at this weekend’s two tracks. He won at Gas City and had an eighth at Putnamville in 2012 while Stockon’s best finish in three starts at the two tracks in 2012 was a 10th at Gas City.
Lurking in the wings is three-time USAC National Drivers Champion Bryan Clauson, just 17 points behind Stockon. Clauson has racked up an amazing nine USAC feature victories in various series this year. In 2012 he had a victory and a fifth at Gas City and a third at Putnamville.
Brady Bacon is only 19 points behind the leader and Tracy Hines 31, with a total of 148 points available in the two events.
2013 AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car Point Standings: 1-Chase Stockon-247, 2-Hunter Schuerenberg-239, 3-Bryan Clauson-230, 4-Brady Bacon-228, 5-Tracy Hines-216, 6-Dave Darland-200, 7-Kevin Thomas-185. 8-Robert Ballou-163, 9-Tyler Courtney-133, 10-C.J. Leary-131.
