Test and Tune Day Cancelled, 60th Season Opener Now First on Eldora Menu
The untypical spring weather that has plagued the Midwest with continued cold temperatures and record snowfalls over the past few weeks has also played havoc with the Eldora Speedway track crew and their efforts to produce an ideal racing surface for Saturday’s (April 6) scheduled Test and Tune Day. As a result, the session has been canceled.

Flirting with victory on Saturday night, Lance Dewease had a right rear blow out on him, causing him to wreck, thus ending his night on a sour note at Port Royal.

AMSOIL SPRINTS HEAD FOR THE “BURG” SATURDAY
Tracy Hines of New Castle, Ind. continues his pursuit of the all-time record for AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car wins this Saturday when the series visits Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway. None of his 45 wins to date have come at the 3/8-mile dirt oval, although he did win a 2010 USAC National Midget race there.

“POWER OF PURPLE NIGHT” FOR CRA SPRINTS AT THE PAS
Damion Gardner of Concord, Calif. hopes to hold onto an all-time lead while trying to vault to the 2013 AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint point lead Saturday night when the series competes in the “Power of Purple Night” benefitting the City of Perris Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society at the Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.

Ronnie Gardner and Kody Swanson enter this Saturday night’s “Battle at the Beach” at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway as 2013 USAC Western Midget point leaders. Gardner, of Corona, Calif., already has a second and a third in this year’s Western dirt events and Swanson, of Kingsburg, Calif., won the 2013 pavement opener at Madera, Calif.

WESTERN IGNITES SATURDAY AT LVMS BULLRING
Bryan Dawson of Phoenix, Ariz., USAC’s 2012 Las Vegas Ignite Midget Champion, leads the 2013 Western Ignite Pavement series to the Las Vegas (Nev.) Bullring this Saturday. He won the recent Western pavement opener at Lake Havasu, Ariz.

ALICE HANKS NAMED GOLF TOURNEY HONORARY CHAIRPERSON
Alice Hanks of Pacific Palisades, Calif., whose husband Sam Hanks won the 1957 Indianapolis 500, has agreed to serve as the honorary chairperson for USAC’s 18th Annual Women’s Charity Golf Tournament. The announcement was made today by Golf Committee Chairperson Marie Hall.
