Stephens Wins at Dog Hollow

Strongstown, PA — (May 18, 2013) — Townsend Gas and Oil sponsored the action at Dog Hollow Speedway
Friday night with four drivers gracing victory lane for the first time this season, including: Mason
Zeigler of Chalk Hill making his first ever visit to Dog Hollow a winning one in the Townsend Gas
and Oil Super Late Models, Rick Singleton of Hesston in the Stoystown Auto Wreckers Fastrak
Late Models, Justin Queen of Irvona in the Lias Tire Pure Stocks and Mike Phillipson of Ebensburg
in the Myers Tires Four Cylinder Sidewinders.
Repeat winners included Bryce Stephens of Huntingdon in the Precise Racing Products Racesaver
305 Sprints and Tom Pavelko of Cherry Tree in the Myers Tires Modified Four Cylinders.

The Super Late Models were led to the start with Randy Smithley and Mason Zeigler on the front
row, and at the drop of Rich Powell’s green flag, Zeigler was shot out of a cannon and bolted into
the lead. As he was setting a torrid pace, lapping up to and including the 11th place car, the battle
for second was an intense one, as Sammy Stile, Mike Blose and Clate Copeman were jockeying for
position initially before Brandon Delano got into the mix, then the first caution flew on lap 17 and
brought the field closer together.
On the restart Zeigler was still in control, but now sixth place starter Blose was on his bumper and
hounding him for the lead but another caution waved on lap 20, again drawing the field together
and giving Blose another shot at the lead, and on lap 22 Blose was able to lead by a few inches
over Zeigler, but Zeigler battled back and regained the lead as the final caution waved on lap 23,
setting up a two lap dash for the cash. Zeigler was still in control, but Blose and Stile were right
there, with Zeigler holding on to get his first career win at the Hollow. Blose was a close second
with Stile, Delano and Copeman completing the top five. Heat wins went to Zeigler and Blose.

The Fastrak Late Models saw Joey Petyak and Rick Singleton on the front row, with Petyak
spinning on lap two causing a multi-car pile-up and sending several cars to the pits for the night.
On the restart Singleton was still in control, and he held off the advances from Joe Moyer and
Andrew Satterlee. Late in the race the battle for second was really hot, as Moyer and Satterlee
touched in turn one, then exiting turn four on the same lap they collided again, with Moyer drilling
the wall and ending his night. The final two laps it was Singleton holding off Satterlee for the win.
Satterlee, Mike Laughard, Butch Moyer and Gary Stahl completed the top five. Heat wins went to
Satterlee and Nico Dabecco.

A special for the Racesaver 305 Sprints at another speedway kept the car count down to only
nine, with Jim Marquette beating Don Sotosky off the line to take the lead and set the pace for the
early laps. A caution on lap eight tightened the field as Bryce Stephens and just taken the lead, he
then put the “wild 1” on cruise control and went on to his second straight win. Roger Irvine was
second with Marquette, Sotosky and Justin Zap completing the top five. Stephens also copped the
heat.
In the Pure Stocks, Jon Lee and Justin Queen led the field to the green with Queen taking the lead
and setting the pace. As he led Andrew Koenig and Shawn Smith ran second and third, and
keeping Queen in their sights the whole way, then a caution on the white flag set up a two-lap
shootout, with Queen able to hold off the challenges from Koenig and Smith but in the post race
tech, Smith was found to be too light and Koenig was also disqualified for rules infractions. The
top five then ended up being Queen, Adam Pletcher, Ryan Claycomb, Devin Detwiler and Brian
Shaw, The heat wins went to Pletcher and Lee.

Chris Yoder and Mike Phillipson were on the front row for the Four Cylinder Sidewinders feature,
with Phillipson taking the lead at the start and holding it the entire distance. Yoder held second
the entire race with newcomer Jesse Laughard in third. The top five at the finish were Phillipson,
Yoder, Laughard, John Costa and Dustin Tolar, but Laughard was disqualified for various rules
infractions and the new top five showed Jim Kleitches now in the fifth spot. Heat wins went to
Phillipson and Robert Lydic for his first career win.
The Modified Four Cylinder feature was initially led by Mark Maglet with John Hayes in second and
Tom Pavelko but as the field completed lap five, Pavelko was leading and went on to win over
Maglet and John Hayes. Pavelko also won the heat.
