MESQUITE, Texas (May 20, 2013) – Following a rough Saturday night in Texas, Travis Rilat is looking forward to returning to the Northwest and the friendly confines of Richard and Lana Saumure’s sprint car this weekend.

Rilat, who finished a season-best second in his lone event in the Northwest this season, will head to Washington for the ASCS Northwest Region season-opening event Friday and Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma.

“It’s a good track,” he said. “It’s racy and it’s just about the right size.”

Rilat drove from 10th to place fifth in the ASCS Northwest Region opener last season and followed that by winning a heat race and charging from eighth to third the following night at Grays Harbor Raceway.

It will be a nice change of pace after an issue in the valve train sidelined Rilat in his own car on Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

“We had engine trouble in hot laps,” he said. “We had no spare to put in, so we packed it up, opened a beer can and watched the race.

Rilat, who shipped the engine back to Shark to be fixed, isn’t scheduled to compete in his car for the next few weeks.
