NEW EGYPT, N.J. (May 20) – The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series makes a stop Tuesday May 21 at New Egypt Speedway for the NAPA Auto Parts Outlaw Classic.
This season’s race will mark the fifth time the Outlaws have competed at this facility since 2001.
The 7/16-mile D-shaped clay oval will require a different chassis set-up and driving style
for the pilots of the winged 900-horsepower sprint cars.
“This will be a different configuration than most of the track we compete on,” said Joey Saldana, driver of the Motter Equipment Fatheadz Eyewear 71M. “But it’s fun to change it up a little bit. It challenges our driving skills and how quickly we can adapt.”
With a demanding 90-race schedule, the competitors are just a little more than one quarter through the season. For Saldana and Motter there have been more highs than lows to date. They have set two track records, three quick times and have five top-five finishes.
“The competition out here makes you dig deep,” said Saldana. “Some things are out of your control, but all of us on the team are giving 110 percent and we want to give our team owner Dan Motter a championship season.”
