The Shaylen Raye Motorsports Sprint Car racing team driven by Travis Jacobson competed in the John Carroll Classic Saturday May 25th at Skagit Speedway. Results were mixed although Travis did set fast time at 11.196.

With fewer cars in field this week from the previous week starting position was essential on a very fast and hooked up racetrack. The track was wide and smooth and everyone in the field had the hammer down from the start in both the heat race and main event. The end result was fourth in the heat race and fourth in the main, both finishes came from a 4th starting position.
“The starts are critical in the 410 division. Especially with a lower car count. With a few more cars you can get some help from traffic, but unless you are the car with clean air out front or the car in front of you makes a big mistake you are basically just running wide open nose to tail,” said team owner Mike Anderson.
“The car is wicked fast as evidenced by our qualifying lap each week. But starts and starting position are everything. It was nice running with 16 cars a few weeks ago, that really gave us a good idea of where we are with Dirt Cup just a few weeks away. Of course we’d like more wins, especially from the John Carroll race. John was the guy that put Travis in a sprint car for the very first time. Kudos to race winner Eric Fisher he was really dialed in. Jason Bloodgood had that 6 car flying early before the motor went and the kid in the 2 car Jonathan Jorgenson is showing more and more speed every week. This is a really competitive group of guys to run with week in and week out.”
Shaylen Raye Motorsports is considering our options for this weekend. There is no 410 race the team can realistically travel to this weekend and our initial plan was not to run the 360 car until after Dirt Cup.
