GREG ALEXANDER BACK IN ACTION THIS SATURDAY IN SAN BERNARDINO!

Greg Alexander

(Torrance, CA, May 30, 2013)  For the first time in over a month and for only the third time this season, Greg Alexander will be racing a Sprint Car this Saturday night, June 1st, in the URA’s Don Blair Cup at the Macro Air Orange Show Stadium in San Bernardino.  Racing will begin at 6:30 PM and your ticket to the races gets you into the Orange Show Festival free.

To say the 2013 season did not get started the way the likeable 24-year-old Torrance, California racer would like is an understatement.  In his first race with the Amsoil USAC/CRA Series at Perris Auto Speedway on April 11th, he took evasive action in the main event to avoid another car and ended up getting clobbered and flipping on top of the wall of the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval.  That crash demolished the chassis on the Chuck Tyler Motorsports #72.  A couple weeks later, while moving towards the front of the pack at the USAC West Coast Series race at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, another driver shoved Alexander into the inside berm causing him to flip.  While upside down he was blasted by another car and the blow wrecked the A-Frame behind the cage on the Eric Rickard Motorsports #13.

“It has been so frustrating,” Alexander said with a sigh on Wednesday afternoon.  “I have just been at the wrong place at the wrong time.  Hopefully all of that stuff is behind me and I am very excited to be getting back in a racecar on Saturday.”

Getting back on the track has been a lot of work.  In addition to getting the Rickard car repaired, Alexander has been building a brand new car for the Tyler team.  They initially believed the chassis was repairable, but it was damaged to bad and had to be junked.  The team just took delivery on a brand new Maxim chassis and they are getting ready to unveil it near the end of June.

“We are hoping to have the #72 car ready for the July 4th race at Perris,” Alexander said.  “Hopefully we will get it done and be able to shake it down at the June 29th race in San Bernardino.”

The Eric Rickard Motorsports car is sponsored by Da Kine Ono Grindz, Port Medical, Barnes Systems Inc., NNJFI Properties, 777 Racecars, White Nuckl USA, Oil Twins Amsoil, Bondio Fabrication, Kenny’s Components, Freeway Auto Supply and Scott Daloisio Sports
