Racing to a Cure for Diabetes Night set for June 1 at Knoxville Raceway

Knoxville, IA — (May 29, 2013) — Knoxville Raceway is proud to partner with Pella Windows and Doors for the second annual Racing to a Cure for Diabetes Night on Saturday, June 1, to help raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in its race for a cure for type 1 diabetes.

 

For every $15 adult general admission ticket purchased that night with a Pella Corp/JDRF coupon, Knoxville Raceway will donate $5 to the Greater Iowa JDRF Chapter to help fund type 1 diabetes research. Coupons are available at http://www.greateriowa.jdrf.org/event/pella-corporation-race-night-for-jdrf/ or may also be picked up at the JDRF table outside the main grandstand the day of the race. All teens and children gain free admission!

 

“It’s a priority for us to give back to the community and our collaboration with Pella and JDRF is a great way for us to help the important cause of finding a cure for type 1 diabetes,” says Brian Stickel, Knoxville Raceway general manager. “We’re looking forward to a fun night at the races and raising money for a cure.”

 

Special Activities

  • Sprint Car Racing – three classes of winged sprint cars with on-track action beginning at 6:45.
  • Fundraising Picnic – free will donations accepted for a special picnic at the Dyer Hudson Hall from 4:00-7:00 with hamburger or hot dog, chips, potato salad, cookie and drink.
  • Junior Fan Club Sign Up – children ages 5-12 can join the free Knoxville Raceway Junior Fan Club at the booth under the main grandstand. Each child receives a FREE Knoxville Raceway Junior Fan Club T-shirt for signing up.
  • Balloon Animals – enjoy the fun by Tom Terrific the Balloon Man under the grandstand from 5:30-7:00.
  • Explore the Pit – head to the pit to meet the drivers, crews and officials. Many drivers have Hero Cards for the kids and t-shirts for sale. Free and open to the public following the races.
