JOHN CARROLL CLASSIC WINNERS AT SKAGIT SPEEDWAY

Memorial Weekend racing at Skagit Speedway featured five divisions before a packed house and full-moon sky. At times the old adage about racing on a full moon seemed to be true. Annually the John Carroll Classic presented by Industrial Resources Inc. produces some of the best racing of the season as racers treasure the Classic Trophies and prestige of winning a race named after one of the tracks legendary racers.

Sitterly Wins at Oswego

For the second race in a row Otto Sitterly parked his Nicotra Racing Supermodified on the front stretch at Oswego Speedway. This time however, Sitterly climbed out of the No. 7 as a five-time champion of the prestigious 75-lap Jim Shampine Memorial event as a part of the Helena Chemical Company Memorial Day Weekend ‘Triple-Header’ at the ‘Steel Palace.’

Spithaler Wins BOSS Feature at Mercer

Brandon Spithaler did it again, taking the B.O.S.S. traditional Sprint Car win at Mercer Raceway Park after winning the opener for the winged Sprints presented by Luxaire Heating & Cooling and New Wilmington Motors. His first win in the car fielded by Tom Burkey propelled him into the points lead for the touring series. Remarkably, Spithaler’s winning ride was powered by a 360 motor!

Bowman the man again in URSS at RPM

For a while, it seemed the only track Darren Bowman had any luck at was in Hutchinson. When that track closed, Bowman was without a track he had won a race at. But late last season, Bowman won the United Rebel Sprint Series feature at RPM Speedway in Hays. On Friday night during the track’s Sprint Car Mania event, Bowman backed up that URSS win with his second victory in a row at the 3/8-mile dirt oval.
