Wednesday was a great day for all of sprint car racing.  In a hotbed of winged sprint car racing in Central Pennsylvania the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series put on an awesome feature at Grandview Speedway.  Kokomo Speedway puts on spectacular non-wing sprint car races during Sunday nights throughout the summer, but on Wednesday the World of Outlaws proved that Kokomo 2.0 can put on spectacular winged sprint car racing with a tremendous feature event.

Both shows were the stuff sprint car fans dream of.   Multiple cars battling for the lead, cars scattered all over the racing surface racing for the lead, and incredible action from start to finish.   Thanks to modern technology fans from all over the world were able to see various videos of these features.  After watching each video I was ready to get up out of my chair and go to a sprint car race right then.  I cannot imagine any sprint car fan not seeing the Grandview video and not salivate at the thought of going to another Eastern Storm event.   After watching Kokomo’s video I imagined how good the upcoming Brad Doty Classic could be on Lima’s high banked quarter mile race track.  Even though I was not at either event I was excited for people that did get to go and glad they saw such good races.

All too often sprint car fans get caught up in the winged / non-winged, local versus touring series, and what is wrong with the series.  Wednesday night proved that on the when all of the ingredients come together we can see the kind of races we dream of seeing on virtually any night.   That possibility drives us to go to the race track week after week, after seeing hundreds of races, to hopefully see races like Pennsylvania and Indiana fans saw on Wednesday.

In a world that seems so negative at times it was great to see something so positive and awesome last night.  Most of all I am even more excited to see what happens next.
