Rose Struggles in Trio of World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series Events

Kansas City, KS — (June 10, 2013) — Bill Rose is still searching for that missing piece.

“We definitely didn’t find it last weekend,” he said. “We’re just struggling right now.”

Rose had a difficult week with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series as his best finish was 21st in three events.

“These tires are different and I just can’t get the car to drive around,” he said. “But look at Craig Dollansky. He was struggling and then turned it around and spanked everyone. There wasn’t anybody that could touch him the last two races.”

Rose opened the week on Wednesday at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Ind., which is arguably the closest track to his hometown of Plainfield.

“It was nice,” he said. “I got to see a lot of people I don’t get to see very often. But then we drew a real late number and the track slowed down in qualifying. We got lucky in the heat race and some people crashed to get us in. We just weren’t very good all night.”

Rose finished 22nd in the main event. The team then headed to 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa, for a Friday showdown that resulted in one of Rose’s most challenging results of the season. After failing to advance through his heat race and being mired in the middle of the Last Chance Showdown, Rose gambled on the setup.

“I tried some stuff in the B Main, which I probably shouldn’t have tried,” he said. “But I wanted to try to see if it worked. And it didn’t.”

Rose failed to advance through the consolation and into the feature.

He wrapped up the weekend on Saturday at Lakeside Speedway, where Rose placed 21st.

“It was just a bad weekend,” he said. “I’m getting sick of them.”

Bill Rose Racing driver David Gravel finished in the top 15 of each event and he sits seventh in the championship standings.

“It was solid,” Rose said. “We’re both struggling a bit, especially now that the tracks have gotten really slick.”

The teams will compete with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series on Friday at Jackson Speedway in Jackson, Minn., for The Big Game Shootout Presented by Eyecon Trail Cameras and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, for the Mediacom Shootout.
