Roth Motorsports ‘Shakes Up’ Crew Chief’s

PETERSEN MEDIA

Auto racing is a crazy sport, where often times we see changes occur in the middle of the season. All of us at Roth Motorsports would like to thank Sonny Kratzer for his services up to this point in the 2013 season, and would like to welcome Rob Hart aboard.

Effective Saturday night following the California Civil War race in Hanford, CA, longtime crew chief, Sonny Kratzer, will step away from Roth Motorsports after a successful season to date.

Kratzer has been the crew chief of the Roth Motorsports California team, wheeled by Kyle Hirst. Currently Hirst and Kratzer sit second in King of the West Series standings, with one feature event win.

“We wish Sunny well in his new endeavors, and thank him for all that he has done for our California team,” Roth Motorsports Owner, Dennis Roth said. “He has helped us get off to a great start, and we look forward to continuing the success in California.”

Replacing Kratzer in California will be Troy Welty. Welty has been on the road with National team and driver, Tim Kaeding, helping him score five World of Outlaw wins up to this date in 2013. Welty will return home, and work with the California team, as well as taking the role of team manager for the entire Roth Motorsports operation.

“We have a great guy in Troy Welty, and really feel he gives us a great opportunity to continue our success with both teams. He will work directly with Kyle Hirst, Brent Ventura, and Robert Morgan, as well as keep communications with our National team,” Roth Explained.

Enter Rob Hart. Hart is no stranger to the national sprint car scene, and has recently worked with the likes of Kerry Madsen. Hart will come on board with Roth Motorsports and take over the crew chief operations of the National team, that is currently being driven by Tim Kaeding, and worked on by John Sayne and Brandon Hickman.

“We have a great team ‘out on the road’ right now, and with the knowledge, and experience Rob Hart has, we feel we will continue to be strong and competitive in this transition,” Roth said.

Both Roth Motorsports team will be in action this weekend. Tim Kaeding and his team will be at the Jackson Speedway in Jackson, MN tonight and at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA Saturday night, while Kyle Hirst will be at the Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA Saturday night.

Tim and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2013.
