Big Game Motorsports Powers to Four Combined Top 10s in Impressive Weekend

Inside Line Promotions

KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 17, 2013) – Big Game Motorsports is definitely hitting its stride as Craig Dollansky and Sammy Swindell each captured a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.

In one of the closest events to the Big Game Treestands headquarters this season, Jackson Speedway in Jackson, Minn., hosted The Big Game Shootout Presented by Eyecon Trail Cameras on Friday.

In his Big Game Treestands backed car, Swindell qualified second quickest and Dollansky piloted the Eyecon Trail Cameras car to the fourth-quickest time. The teammates both advanced through their heat races to make the dash, which Dollansky won for the fourth time this season as Swindell finished third.

“We had a pretty good car to start the night,” Dollansky said. “It seemed like the car wasn’t balanced as well in the feature, whether it was our stagger choice or tire compound.”

While Donny Schatz claimed The Big Game Shootout Presented by Eyecon Trail Cameras feature, the Big Game Motorsports teammates were the show. Dollansky and Swindell battled side by side for the second half of the main event, with Dollansky powering the Eyecon Trail Cameras car around the top groove and Swindell hitting his marks on the inside line of the half-mile track.

“I for sure would have liked to be racing for the win with him, but it was definitely a good battle,” Dollansky said. “It was a good race for the fans. It was good to be close where some of the Big Game employees could come to the event.”

The duo officially swapped the final spot on the podium four times with Dollansky taking third place for good with two laps remaining.

“We were really close from second to fourth, wasn’t very much difference,” Swindell said after finishing fourth. “We had a car capable of being in the top three and was maybe only a foot or so that we lost it.”

The Eyecon Trail Cameras and Big Game Treestands teams headed to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday for one final World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series tune-up before the famed Knoxville Nationals this August.

Dollansky qualified fifth quickest and finished third in his heat race to narrowly miss making the dash by one position. Swindell timed in eighth quickest and placed fifth in his heat race as the team struggled with some adjustments.

The Big Game Motorsports drivers both advanced to the main event with the Eyecon Trail Cameras car starting 13th and the Big Game Treestands car starting 15th.

“It didn’t seem like we were quite right,” Swindell said. “We missed on our tires and their pressures. We weren’t real bad until we had the yellow and the right rear tire went down. If it would have stayed green the whole way we might have been in the top five.”

Swindell and Dollansky battled within the top 10 for most of the race as both made a late charge toward a top five. However, the Big Game Motorsports teammates were both passed in traffic by a couple of cars in the closing laps and Dollansky placed ninth with Swindell rounding out the top 10.

“We weren’t where we wanted to be with our race car,” Dollansky said. “We were a little off all night long. We got out of there with a top-10 finish. We learned some things to go in there in August and we’re definitely getting our car balanced more consistently here.”

Dollansky ranks fourth in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series standings with Swindell only 18 points behind in fifth place. The series will compete on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., before making its inaugural visit to I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minn., on Saturday.
