“It really shows where our team is headed when we can put together a run like that with the Outlaws,” Madsen said.

With a  full field of 42 cars checked into the pit area, Madsen and his KCP Racing team were dialed in during qualifications, as he laid down the seventh fastest lap, putting him well inside the heat race inversion.

Starting third in his heat, the St. Mary’s, NSW native got into the second spot where he chased after Brian Brown, but settled for the spot, and put his Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply machine in both the night’s dash and feature event.

Starting fifth in the dash, Madsen did not get off to quite the start he was looking for as he lost a spot, and rolled around in the fifth spot, where he would start the feature event.

On a track that provided a decent amount of passing, the lead four cars seemed to be in a league of their own, as they broke away from the field.

Chasing after Paul McMahan, Madsen held his own, as he got up along side him, but was unable to move into the podium position, as he settled for the fourth spot.

“We had a great car at Knoxville,” Madsen said. “The guys worked hard all night, and really helped put us in a position to have a strong night.”

Friday night, the team was at the Jackson Speedway in Jackson, MN, and did not have quite the night they were looking for.

Timing in 17th quickest, Madsen and his Royal Flooring/Greenland Homes of Iowa/Stepping Stone Genetics machine just narrowly missed out on the inversion.

Starting fifth in his heat, Madsen tallied a fourth place finish, putting him in the feature, but back in the 15th spot.

On a very narrow track that did not allow for a great deal of passing, Madsen tallied an 18th place finish.

“Friday night qualifying killed us,” he said. “We just missed the inversion for the heat races, and that pretty much dictates your night.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Nehring Construction, Team Kline Electric, Logan Contractors Supply, Royal Flooring, Greenland Homes of Iowa, Stepping Stone Genetics, Quality Traffic Control, Factory Kahne, Rider Racing Engines, JRS Excavating, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Smith Precision Products, Moose Blocks, Speedway Motors, Watson’s Express Transport, and Kustom Concrete Pumping for their support.
