After destroying a car at the World of Outlaw race in Kokomo, IN, Brandon Wimmer and his Destiny Motorsports team put a new Triple X Chassis together, and shook it down over this past weekend, in preparations for the upcoming Ohio Speedweek.

“It was a wild weekend for sure,” Wimmer said. “I’m glad we made the decision to get some laps in it before a busy week.”

Friday night at the Attica Raceway Park, Wimmer and company had a brake issues hamper them in hot laps and in heat race action.

Ultimately pulling off in heat race action with no brakes, the team went to work on the rear-end making changes before the B.

Starting last in the B main, Wimmer found something to his liking as he carved his way through the field, and stole the final transfer spot coming to the checkered flag.

Starting 20th in the 30-lap feature event, Wimmer again felt comfortable in the new car, as he was able to race his way forward on the fast surface.

Getting up to the sixth spot on the 20th lap, bad luck bit Wimmer, as dirt got up into a nozzle line in the engine, and he pulled into the work area.

Saturday night, the team headed to the Fremont Speedway, and made the decision to throw something new at the car every time it hit the track.

“With not having a ton of laps in these Triple X cars, we decided it would be wise for us to really do some R&D at Fremont, and we definitely learned some things,” he said.

Qualifying 11th quick, Wimmer would proceed to start and finish third in his heat race, putting him in the feature event, where he started in the seventh spot.

Again trying some different things, Wimmer was able to hold his own, and actually wound up scoring a sixth place finish.

“Our main goal this weekend was to learn something, with a busy week ahead of us. We had plenty of speed, and threw all kinds of things at it, and I’m looking forward to a busy week.”
