Brandon Wimmer and his Destiny Motorsports team had high hopes heading into the Knoxville 360 Nationals, however, an engine that didn’t seem to want to run all weekend, did not make for a good weekend.
In action on Friday night for his qualifying night, Wimmer timed his Mondak Portables/Rick Rogers Construction/Speedmart Machine in 25th quickest out of 55 cars, putting him on the front row of his heat race.
Getting a good jump, Wimmer was in the second spot, chasing after Brian Brown, but simply could not keep up with the leader, as his engine struggled once it was underway.
He would score a second place finish, but the team hoped they could fix the problem for the feature.
Starting 16th in the feature event, Wimmer still did not have the speed and power he needed, as he held on to score a 13th place finish, putting him 16th in the Saturday night B.
Going through their engine on Saturday with the Wesmar team, Wimmer and his Destiny Motorsports team still didn’t have what they needed on Saturday, as their 360 Nationals came to a close with a 15th place finish in the B main.
“We just fought our engine all weekend, and it didn’t work out,” he said. “Now we will put our 410ci engine in, and focus on the big show, which our entire team is excited for.”
Destiny Motorsports would like to thank Mondak Portables, Rick Rogers Construction, Speedmart, Wesmar Racing Engines, Keizer Wheels, Driver Websites, and Benic Enterprises for their support through the 2013 season.
