Andy Gregg Scores 7th Win of Season

PETERSEN MEDIA

Continuing to have a career year in 2013, Andy Gregg scored his seventh win of the season, and second of year at the Silver Dollar Speedway, on Friday night aboard his Coors Light/LivFast/GUTS Racing No.53 before having issues on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway in Scott Russell’s 14R.

“Anytime you can score a win it’s a great weekend,” Andy Gregg said. “We had a great car on Friday night, and Saturday too, but unfortunately Saturday we had a tangle that knocked us out of the race.”

Aboard his own No.53 on Friday night, Gregg started the night off by timing in 8th fastest, putting him in the second row his heat race.

Heat race action saw the Placerville, CA grab the early lead, and go on to win, putting him on the front row for the 25-lap feature event.

Starting on the front row for the feature, Gregg took the green flag, and quickly built up a huge lead on a slicked off racing surface, until he encountered lapped traffic, allowing rival, Andy Forsberg to close in on his rear bumper.

Clearing slower traffic, Forsberg was able to hang with the driver known as “Guts”, but Gregg was too good on this night, and held Forsberg behind him as he picked up the popular win.

“I have to thank my crew for all their help tonight,” Gregg said in victory lane. “They worked their butts off all week on the 53 car, and it is nice to get them a win.”

Saturday night, Gregg returned to the cockpit of the potent Russell No.14R, as the team looked to back up their Forni Classic win, just a week prior.

Going out dead last in time trials, Gregg timed his machine in 13th fastest, again putting him in the second row of his heat race, which he was again able to win.

In the feature event, Gregg had a nice start, as he ran inside the top-10 for the first 12 laps, until he got tangled up with a another car, and his stalled car got left in the infield, with no caution, and his night was over.

“It was an interesting night in Placerville, and I think we had a good car, but just had an unfortunate tangle,” he said. “I have to thank the Russell family, and all the guys who help on their car for another really good racecar.”

Andy would like to thank Coors Light, LivFast Clothing Co., GUTS Racing, Meyers and Son Drywall, Ervin Sales Group, K&N Products, FK Rod Ends, Eagle Motorsports, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Hinchman, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, and 103.5 The Blaze for their support in 2013.
