DuQuoin, IL — (August 22, 2013) — On Sunday, September 1, 2013 the USAC Silver Crown cars will run the 61st Ted Horn 100 on the “Magic Mile” dirt oval during the DuQuoin State Fair in DuQuoin, Illinois. The day will consist of practice at 5:00 p.m., Silver Crown qualifying at 6:00 p.m. and the feature will begin at 8:00 p.m. Last year’s historic race was not held due to rain. Kyle Larson was the last winner in 2011.
The UMP Modified division will practice at 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, September 1st with heat races at 7:00 p.m. for their feature on Monday, September 2nd.
The 60th running of the ARCA Federated Car Care-Southern Illinois 100 takes place on Labor Day at the DuQuoin State Fair with five-time Southern Illinois 100 winner Frank Kimmel atop the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menard’s standings and on the prowl for an unprecedented tenth ARCA crown, not to mention an unprecedented sixth win at DuQuoin. In light of the thrilling and controversial race at Springfield, DuQuoin race fans could be in for a barn burner in the Southern Illinois 100. His main competition Labor Day could be from the oldest race winner in ARCA history. Ken Schrader broke a record long held by Katona earlier this year by winning at Toledo and the two-time Southern Illinois 100 winner (2006-07) would like nothing better than to win the event for his car sponsor, Federated Auto Parts.
Former Indy 500 driver Milka Duno of Venezuela is one of two females on the entry list, the other is young Taylor Ferns of Michigan. Duno is currently 999 in ARCA points.
UMP Modified cars return to DuQuoin for the nineteenth running of the Bill Oldani Memorial on September 1 & 2. The 2011 winner was Ken Schrader, as he bested Tony Stewart and Steeleville’s Matt Mevert to take his first DuQuoin modified race last year. Stewart is out for the year due to an injury while Mevert seemed to get hooked on mile dirt track racing in 2011 as he had a crowd pleasing battle with both Stewart and Schrader at the front of the pack. Former winners Brian Shaw of Robinson, Jeff Parks of Marion and Shelby Miles of Indiana are also expected to be part of the field, as are DuQuoin drivers Chris Winters, Blake Cook and Tim Burdel with other drivers coming from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee. Heats for the Oldani Memorial will be run in conjunction with the Ted Horn 100 on September 2 with the 20 mile finale prior to the Southern Illinois 100 on Labor Day.
