Edmonton, AB — (August 27, 2013) — It was tough to top last season’s success at Castrol Raceway for Big Game Motorsports, which swept the doubleheader.

Last weekend Eyecon Trail Cameras driver Craig Dollansky and Big Game Treestands pilot Sammy Swindell returned with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series to the 3/8-mile Canadian track for the Oil City Cup.

“I wouldn’t say that we’re extremely happy with the weekend we had,” Dollansky said. “It was a consistent weekend, but not what we were hoping for.”

The action began on Friday with Swindell qualifying 10th quickest and Dollansky 11th quickest, putting them both on the pole for a heat race. Swindell maintained his position to advance to the dash, while Dollansky dropped to third – one spot out of a trip to the dash.

The Big Game Treestands car advanced from ninth to eighth place in the dash and Swindell was on the move in the feature.

“In the main we made it from ninth up to fourth and they had a big crash,” he said. “The rail around there at the end of it there’s a pole. (Another driver) hit that thing and knocked his front end out and it went downhill there. He came back across the track and it caught the right side of our car. We got a piece of it trying to get through. It messed up a lot of stuff. We were able to get back out and patch it to ride around.”

With a damaged Big Game Treestands car, Swindell was forced to restart near the back and he rallied to place 11th.

After starting 12th, Dollansky was also caught up in an incident with that pole earlier in the main event.

“At one point in the race we popped the inside guard rail and we flattened the left front tire,” he said. “We had to go to the infield and get it changed.”

The Eyecon Trail Cameras car maneuvered from the back to record a seventh-place result.

The teams returned to Castrol Raceway on Saturday and both narrowly missed the heat race inversion. Swindell qualified 13th quickest and Dollansky 15th quickest.

“It seemed like the guys who went out earlier had a little better advantage,” Swindell said. “A lot of the time hundredths mean a big difference.”

Swindell placed fourth in his heat race to lock the Big Game Treestands car into the feature, which it started 15th. Dollansky maneuvered from fifth to second place to garner a spot in the dash.

The Eyecon Trail Cameras car advanced from 10th to ninth place in the dash and then from ninth to sixth place in the feature, earning Dollansky his 27th top 10 of the season.

“We’ve been off with our car and lacking overall speed,” he said. “We got ourselves in the ball game in the heat race and get ourselves in the transfer spot as far as the dash goes. We had some encouraging things.”

Swindell and the Big Game Treestands car advanced five positions to place 10th, which was his 35th top-10 result of the year.

“It wasn’t easy to pass anyone,” he said. “We just had to settle for that 10th-place finish.”

Next up, Big Game Motorsports and the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series will have a tripleheader in Washington. Skagit Speedway in Alger hosts races on Friday and Saturday, and Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma has a race on Monday, which kicks off seven straight days of racing across the West Coast.
