Spencer, IA — (Aug. 26, 2013) — For the seventh straight season the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series are headed to Clay County Fair Speedway during the Clay County Fair.

With the bright lights and sounds of the fair in the background, the Arnold Motor Supply Shootout is set for Friday, Sept. 13, at the 3/8-mile oval with presenting sponsors including H&N Chevrolet Buick, The Farmers Bank of Spencer, Bob’s Bike Shop, Vander Haag’s Inc. and Justice Brothers.

“From back when I started in the ’70s we used to run a lot of fairgrounds,” Sammy Swindell said. “It’s a different atmosphere. I remember running at Springfield on the mile and watching people ride the ferris wheel as you’re racing. We were in Sedalia one time and the band Alabama was there. A lot of times we’d race and then we’re at a concert right after it or can go to the fair.”

Swindell has yet to pick up a win at the track, which has featured a different winner in the last five races.

“We’ve always had some pretty good runs there,” he said. “I don’t think we’ve won, but we’ve been challenging for a good spot. You can drive the car a bit different there. One end is a little bit different than the other. Being right on that line seems to be the biggest difference.”

Donny Schatz, who is the only driver to win multiple features at Clay County Fair Speedway, picked up the victory in the most recent Arnold Motor Supply Shootout.

Brad Sweet recorded his first career World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series win in June of last season with Craig Dollansky, Jac Haudenschild and Jason Meyers each winning events after Schatz claimed the first two races.

The front gate is scheduled to open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing at approximately 7:30 p.m.
