O’Neill Thunders to Victory

Jamie O’Neill and his Xtreme Motorsport team couldn’t have hoped for a better result over the weekend at Northline Speedway in Darwin, when they powered to victory in the opening round of the Chariots of Thunder Series.

After finishing second behind Cameron Gessner in the preliminary feature race on the opening night, O’Neill managed to go one better on the second night by romping to an all-the-way victory in the feature race and claim the $4,000 winner’s cheque.

“Heading into the weekend, I was going to happy with a podium finish, so to come out and take the win is great,” expressed the Darwin, Northern Territory-based racer, who drove his NT # 24 Xtreme Garden Care supported Maxim to the feature-race victory ahead of Ben Atkinson and Cameron Gessner. “It was just a perfect weekend for our team, and we went from strength to strength, and we hit our peak when it mattered most in the Saturday night’s feature race.”

O’Neill paid homage to the support of his Xtreme Motorsport team, which consists of Paul, Billy, BJ and Mick, for making it possible to get him out on the track each and every time.

“My team were wonderful all weekend, and it was good to be able to reward them for all of their efforts with a win,” he said.

Following on from his opening Chariots of Thunder Series round success, O’Neill is excited about this weekend’s second round at Northline Speedway.

“Last weekend’s win has certainly lifted mine and the whole team’s confidence heading into this weekend, and the goal is to challenge for another win,” added O’Neill.

O’Neill currently leads the Chariots of Thunder point standings heading into the second and final round.

O’Neill and the Xtreme Motorsport team would like to thank their 2013-14 season supporters: Xtreme Garden Care, The Mercure in Parramatta, Sam Eyles Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Repco, Sign City, and Grizzly Dyno Shocks.
