Tulsa Oklahoma (Sept.3, 2013)- The Oil Capital Racing Series is set for another run at the Tri-State Speedway in Pocola Oklahoma in what will be round 19 of the 2013 OCRS sprint car tour. After several close calls, Fred Mattox took honors last week at the Osage Casino Caney Valley Speedway in what was a very popular victory among his faithful fans. Mattox also kept OCRS points leader Harli White from taking her seventh win of the season as the young lady followed Mattox across the line.
It’s a new ball game Saturday night as it’s anybody’s guess who is going to win these OCRS features. Excluding White’s six trips to victory lane, there have been eleven different winners in the other twelve races! Only Danny Smith, who is sitting second in points behind White, has scored more than one victory in 2013. TSS race fans saw Locust Grove Oklahoma’s Alex DeCamp score his first OCRS main event win when the sprint car warriors galloped into town last June.
Andrew Deal has been on the gas since returning to action having won at the Salina Highbanks and found himself third behind Mattox and White last weekend. Also, you just never know who is going to show up to take on the OCRS travelers. Last month, in a two week span, OCRS saw both Tim Crawley of Arkansas and Mike Peters of Kansas unload their trailers in OCRS campgrounds. Will there be a surprise party crasher this time around?
Who can forget last years second TSS visit by OCRS when Whit “Gasman” Gastineau and Jammin’ Jamie Passmore waged an epic battle by racing side by side for laps and laps on end? The race became known as “The Thriller In Pocola” and those who were there recall the action quite clearly.
This weekend, more brave open wheel pilots will look to see if they can etch their name on promoter Tim Adams’ victory hardware. Will we see the thirteenth winner of the season “Park-It” at the end of 25 wicked “Eat Your Heart Out” laps around the steeply banked track Or….. will White or Smith add to their seasonal totals and continue their plight towards being the 2013 OCRS champion? Come on out, take a seat and see for yourself what so many are finding our about the OCRS sprint car series……. “OCRS is a series of ferocious adrenalin speed junkies looking to take their battles onto the best tracks in the region and TSS is one of those!
