Tough Going in Gold Cup Finale at Chico

The 60th running of the Gold Cup Race of Champions came to a close on Saturday as the Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team returned to Silver Dollar Speedway in ‘The Golden State’ as Craig Dollansky prepared for his 32nd appearance at the ¼-mile.

With another strong field on hand, Dollansky drew the number one pill for qualifying.  A track still greasy to start qualifying saw lap times get better as time trials progressed and the MobileStar #7 resulted with the 42nd fastest lap.  After starting ninth and missing the transfer spot by two positions in heat competition, Dollansky was forced to run the C-Main due to his qualifying time and ran sixth in the 10-lap race.

Using a provisional for the A-Main, the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim lined up outside row thirteen.  After a trio of cautions before the halfway point of the main event, Dollansky gained eight positions before an open red.  In the final twenty laps the Elk River, Minnesota native continued to chip away in the final laps before taking the checkered flag in 14th.

The Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team is back in action tonight at Antioch Speedway in Antioch, California.
