Auburn, CA — (September 16, 2013) — Cole Wood took advantage of his first weekend off since the beginning of May.
“We definitely enjoyed it and got to sit by the lake,” he said. “Really, we worked on the midget stuff getting it ready for the Chili Bowl.”
Wood is scheduled to return to sprint car action on Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, for the Port-a-Cool U.S. Dirt Track Championship. It marks the second Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour visit to the facility, but will be the first for Wood.
“I’ve been watching some videos,” he said. “It looks like it gets pretty slick, gets up against the fence and it’s super wide. I’m looking forward to it. I like tracks that are up against the fence. I’m a lot better on the cushion than I am on the bottom. We’re ready to go so I’m excited.”
With 11 Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour races remaining, Wood ranks ninth in the championship standings and leads the Rookie of the Year chase.
