Netto Scores Four Top 10 Finishes

PETERSEN MEDIA

Competing with the USAC West Coast 360 Series, the Rebel Cup Series, and the King of the West Series over the weekend, DJ Netto scored four top-10 finishes including two-fifth place finishes on Saturday night.

“Running two cars is always tough, and to do it two night’s in a row and do well both night’s is really a testament to everyone who helps us out,” Netto said.

Kicking his weekend off on Friday night at the King’s Speedway, Netto laid down the fastest lap in time trials against the USAC Series while he timed in 12th fastest with the Rebel Cup Series.

In non-wing action on Friday night, Netto got a little out of shape early in the feature and slipped towards the back of the pack, but then began mashing the cushion, as he fought his way back forward.

Flirting with the fine line of disaster, Netto worked up into the fourth spot as he chased after Matt Mitchell. As the duo were trying to get past a lapped car, Mitchell looked to dive under the lapper, as Netto did the same and the they both collided and spun together.

Netto would then come from the back to score a seventh place finish.

In the winged feature event, Netto lined up in the 12th spot, and was one of the few drivers who were able to get moving forward.

Working both the high-and low sides of the speedway at times, Netto was able to score a sixth place finish at the stripe.

Heading to the Thunderbowl on Saturday night, Netto was again in action with the USAC West Coast 360 Series, and in action with the King of the West Series as well.

Timing in 15th fastest with the KWS, Netto again timed in well with the USAC West Coast 360’s as he timed in seventh fastest with them.

Starting on the front row of his KWS heat, Netto would be penalized for jumping, and forced to start in the second row, where he tallied a fourth place finish, and put his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Bogie’s Auto Parts entry into the 30-lap feature event.

Lining up in the eighth row of the 30-lap feature, Netto was able to avoid near castrophe on the opening lap as he dodged the 10-car pile up, and gained a ton of spots.

Working up into the eight spot by the sixth lap, Netto mixed it up with some of the region’s best drivers’ as he ran the tough Tulare cushion.

Keeping out of trouble over the final laps, Netto was able to grab a fifth place finish.

In the non-wing feature event, that track began taking rubber very early, and Netto fought a very tight racecar, and managed to score a second fifth place finish on the night.

“It was a pretty good weekend overall for the team,” Netto said. “We had a pretty good car every time we hit the track, and to score four top-10 finishes is awesome.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2013.
