Santa Maria, CA — (February 7, 2014) — Officials with the Amsoil USAC/CRA, USAC West Coast, and USAC Western Classic Sprint Car Series are proud to announce that the Woodland Auto Display will sponsor the Fast Time Award in 2014. Drivers that set fast time in qualifications will earn an extra $100 for their efforts.
Located at the Municipal Airport in Paso Robles, California, the Woodland Auto Display opened their doors on July 19, 2009. The facility houses a rotating series of racing history, including Sprint Cars, NASCAR Stock Cars, Modifieds, Super Modifieds, and Midgets. In addition, many exotic, classic, and muscle cars are available for viewing. Perhaps best known in Sprint Cars for sponsoring the Billy and Anne Wilkerson owned team, Dick Woodland and his family have supported racing for many years. Piloting the famed Wilkerson #11,”The Flying Shoe” Ron Shuman won the inaugural SCRA Championship in 1994. Danny Lewis, Rip Williams, Tim Green, Mike Sweeney, Jeremy Sherman, Damion Gardner, Mike Kirby, and Brad Noffsinger have also raced for Wilkerson.
Last season, five-time champion Mike Spencer led all USAC/CRA drivers with seven fast time awards and also paced the Western Classic Sprints with two co-sanctioned fast times. In USAC West Coast Sprint action, 2011 Champion Richard Vander Weerd led the series with four fast time awards.
The eleventh season for the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series will kickoff on Friday, February 28th with the two day “Copper On Dirt” at Canyon Speedway. The Peoria, Arizona facility will also host the Honda USAC Western Midgets, West Coast Shootout Late Models, and IMCA Modifieds. The USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series will begin their sixth point season on Thursday, March 6th with the “Sin City Showdown” at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Co-sanctioned with the USAC SouthWest Sprints, the event will also showcase the World of Outlaw Sprint Cars and IMCA Modifieds. The fourth season for the USAC Western Classic Racing Series will open on Saturday, April 5th with a doubleheader at Calistoga Speedway.
