Pittsburgh, PA — (March 13, 2014) — Since returning to Pennsylvania from sunny, central Florida where he spent a month competing against the UNOH All Stars Circuit of Champions and the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series during multiple ‘speedweek’ events, business has been very slow for Danny Holtgraver. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native has been anxiously awaiting the start of the 2014 Pennsylvania sprint car season; which has been on hold for a number of weeks due to Mother Nature’s endless winter weather torment. Danny Holtgraver and Hunter Racing originally planned to resume their 2014 racing campaign at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pennsylvania on Saturday evening, March 15th. That event has since been cancelled due to persistent harsh winter weather and cold temperatures. The pilot of the Hunter Racing ‘10H’ sprinter has now set his sites on Port Royal Speedway’s rescheduled 2014 season opener on Saturday evening, March 22nd.

“It’s been a long, cold winter” said Danny Holtgraver, “We were hoping to get back to work at Port Royal Speedway this Saturday…they ended up canceling way early because of the weather and I can’t say I blame them…it’s been a tough winter and it makes it really hard for tracks to prepare for their early season openers…we’ll try again next Saturday at Port Royal…we are really excited!”

Holtgraver, who pilots the Hunter Racing, Berlin Natural Bakery, Bonnell’s Rod Shop, Alternative Power Sources, West View Motors, DKW Transport, no. 10H ‘410’ sprinter, will attempt to earn a first career ‘410’ sprint car victory in ‘Pennsylvania Posse’ country next Saturday evening, March 22nd. Although the former Lernerville Speedway track champion has never earned a victory at Port Royal Speedway, or at any of the tracks claimed by the ‘Pennsylvania Posse,’ Holtgraver has displayed quite a bit of success at the big half-mile in Port Royal, Pennsylvania. In fact, the three-time UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions’ feature winner in 2013 earned a runner-up finish during the 2012 edition of the $10,000-to-win Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal Speedway; following Central Pennsylvania great Greg Hodnett to the checkers.

“I really like Port Royal Speedway” explained Danny Holtgraver, “It’s a big half-mile that requires a lot of speed and momentum and I enjoy racing at places like that…we’ve never won there but we’ve been close…we finished second at the Weiker Memorial back in 2012 and that was probably our best finish ever in Central Pennsylvania in a sprint car…hopefully we can get there next Saturday and top that finish by one spot…I just really want to thank Rob Hunter and everyone else involved big time for this opportunity…without them, and the help from my Dad, Pup and everyone else involved, I’d be with nothing.”

The March 22nd program at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pennsylvania will utilize a 6:00PM starting time. The ‘410’ sprint cars will be joined by the late models and xtreme stocks to kick-off the facility’s 2014 schedule.
