While racing is off to a soggy start here in the Midwest there are a few news worth items from our notebook leading into the final weekend of March.

  • While Berlin Raceway’s test and tune has been postponed construction of a new front stretch grandstand is moving along.  This much needed improvement to one of the best short track facilities in the country and should provide for some better viewing angles for when the sprint cars come to Berlin in 2014.
  • Spartan Speedway sent out a note to remind teams that practice is now scheduled for Friday and Saturday April 18th and 19th with no practice on Easter Sunday.   Tires will be available for purchase on April 9th with fuel purchases starting on April 15th.
  • Tonight at Merced Speedway for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series will be the first using their new dash format that takes the heat race winners and the fastest transferring qualifiers into a six car dash.
  • The Miami Valley Centre Mall in Piqua, Ohio has their Race Car and Future Stars expo this weekend.  If you are in the area head out to see some of the area race cars that will be competing in 2014.

Have a great weekend if you are headed to the track or listening / watching online.  We will be out at the track next weekend for the HD Supply Spring Nationals at Attica Raceway Park (weather permitting).
