Mesquite, TX — (April 1, 2014) — For Brandon Hahn, Saturday featured three letters that every racer hates to see.

DNF.

Hahn was caught up in a crash on the opening lap of his heat race, which doomed the remainder of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

“We got a pretty good draw for the heat race,” he said. “I came off turn four and we just got wrecked. I got stuffed in the fence. That screwed up our night right there.”

Hahn, who started on the outside of the second row, collided with a driver as the green flag waved. The crash damaged the rear end, shocks, birdcage, an axle and numerous other parts for Hahn, who was unable to restart the heat race.

That relegated Hahn to start near the rear of the field in the B Main on the fast track.

“We didn’t have time to fix everything we wanted to fix and get it raceable,” he said. “We had to go out and take a lap and pull in.”

The team utilized a series provisional to tag the rear of the field for the main event and again took one lap before driving the race car to the pits. He was credited with a 23rd-place result.

Hahn is headed to I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., this Saturday. It also marks the site of the next Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour race the following weekend.

“We’re going to run our second car this weekend and give it a try,” he said. “It will be good to get some practice laps at least.”
