Donnelson, IA — (April 2, 2014) — Mother Nature is playing havoc with many things, including race schedules! First off, the Brockway Mechanical & Roofing Sprint Invaders event scheduled for Saturday night at the Jackson County Speedway in Maquoketa, Iowa was postponed to a later date to be determined. Now, with midweek rains predicted and a more favorable forecast, officials of the series and the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa have moved their event from the scheduled date Friday to Saturday, April 5.
The Sprint Invaders have a rich history at the 3/8-mile Donnellson oval spanning the thirteen year existence of the series. Saturday will mark the thirty-eighth event at the Lee County Speedway. Kaley Gharst tops the all-time winners’ list there with five. Matt Sutton has recorded four wins, with Terry McCarl, Jeff Mitrisin and John Schulz with three apiece. Last year, Russ Hall, Jon Agan and Paul Nienhiser visited Victory Lane in Donnellson.
Last Sunday, Hall of Famer, “The Wild Child” Jac Haudenschild, picked up the win in the Sprint Invaders opener at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. Another great field of sprinters is anticipated in Donnellson on Saturday, led by defending champion, Russ Hall.
Lincoln, Illinois’ Bret Tripplett is the early point leader with the Sprint Invaders after his strong second place run last Sunday. He is followed in the standings by Jon Agan, Tony Shilling, Josh Schneiderman and Bobby Mincer. Carson McCarl, Justin Newberry, Mike Houseman Jr., Andy Huston and Dustin Selvage round out the top ten in the early going.
Others expected to contend on Saturday include Dave Getchell, Mitchell Alexander, Paul Nienhiser, Jimmy Davies, Jarrod Schneiderman, Tim Moore, rookie Kelly Graham, Chase Wanner and more!
Also on the card Saturday night will be Modifieds, Sport Mods, Sport Compacts, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks!
