Gregg Continues String Of Top-Five Finishes

 PETERSEN MEDIA

Though he started on the pole, and was unable to pick up his second win of the year, Andy Gregg and his team continue to flex their muscles, as Gregg picked up his fifth Top-Five finish in as many starts.

“We missed it a little in the feature, and lost some spots, but we put ourselves in great position all night,” Gregg said.

Taking to his home track, Placerville Speedway, for their season opener, Gregg timed the Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Capitol Ace Hardware/Thompson’s Auto Car entry in third fastest, putting him in the second row of his heat race, where he would finish in the third spot.

Finding his machine on the pole for the 25-lap main event, Gregg slipped to the second spot, as he chased after early leader, Matt Peterson.

With a trio of strong cars behind him, Gregg fought his Carrol Russell Bookkeeping/Arnold’s For Awards entry, as he slipped back to the third spot as Andy Forsberg was able to get by him.

Hanging in the third spot for much of the race, Gregg battled with Matt Peterson hard for the second spot as the laps clicked down.

As he battled with Peterson, Steven Tiner entered the fray, as he was able to get both drivers, as Gregg continued to go after Peterson.

When the checkered flag flew, Gregg came up a little short for the third spot, and settled for the fourth spot.

“It is never a good feeling to go backwards when you start on the front row, but it is part of the sport,” Gregg said. “We were just a little off, and got beat by some better cars. I have to thank this entire team for working hard, and hopefully next weekend we can be a couple spots better.”

Gregg and the Russell Motorsports team would like to thank Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Capitol Ace Hardware, Thompson’s Auto, Carrol Russell Bookkeeping, Arnold’s For Awards, Goodwin Trucking, Farrell Design-Build Inc., K&N, FK Rod Ends, King Racing Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, GUTS, Amsoil, Wilwood, Amerikote, 101.9 The Wolf, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, and HJS Consulting for their support this season.

ON TAP: Gregg will be back at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night aboard the Russell Motorsports No. 14R.
