Tim Kaeding continued his hard charging ways at the Calistoga Speedway in Calistoga, CA as the San Jose, CA driver gained a combined 18 positions in both feature events.
“It has kind of been the norm for us to struggle early, and really turn it on later in the night, which is not where we want to be, but it’s a testament to how hard my team works on a nightly basis,” Kaeding said.
On a super fast track on Saturday night, Kaeding was on the tight side in time trials, as he timed his Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle machine in 19th fastest.
On a very narrow and heavy track in heat race action, TK got everything he could out of his machine as he powered his way from his fourth row starting spot, to finish fourth, and transfer to the feature event.
With the track still staying pretty heavy for the feature event, TK went out and did what many struggled to do, and that was pass cars.
Lining up 19th in the A, Kaeding hooked up with a tough battle with Jonathan Allard, as the two of them started in the 10th row, and moved forward.
Battling with Allard for most of the race, TK was still able to move forward as he got past Jason Meyers, and David Gravel.
Taking advantage of a late restart, Kaeding was able keep Allard at bay as he battled with Steve and Kraig Kinser, but as the checkered fell, Kaeding crossed the stripe in the 12th spot.
Back in action on Sunday night, the track was slick early, and Kaeding timed his machine in 19th fastest.
Heat race action saw Kaeding have engine woes, and his team was forced to change power-plants prior to the B Main.
Lining up second in the B, Kaeding lost the drag race into turn one to Swindell, and held on to his second place finish, as he felt his machine out, to get it ready for the feature event.
Lining up 19th in the feature again, Kaeding put his machine on the ragged edge, as he rode the thick, sticky cushion as he fought his way forward.
In 20-non stop laps to open the race, TK was able to work his way up to the 12th spot, and on the restart, the San Jose, CA driver made some big moves, as he found himself eighth at the stripe, and with his second Hard Charger award of the weekend.
“Our guys worked hard all weekend, and we continued to get better through the night, both nights,” TK said. “Hopefully we can get to Hanford, and Perris this weekend and put ourselves in a better spot early, and get this thing into victory lane.”
