– Hoping to take the momentum from his third place run with the World of Outlaws a week ago, Kyle Hirst posted a pair of 17th place finishes at the Calistoga Speedway over the weekend.

“We were hoping to build off of how we qualified and ran at Merced, but we just did not seem to have the speed in time trials, and everyone knows how important it is to qualify with these guys,” Hirst said.

Timing his Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle entry in 15th fastest on Saturday night, the light car count put him out of the heat race inversion, as he started and finished fifth in his heat.

Lining up 15th on a track that was very demanding and fast, Hirst lost a position on the start, as he worked around the grueling track. When the feature came to a close, Hirst crossed the stripe in 17th.

“Saturday’s track was really all about track position with how fast it was,” Hirst said. “We got better from time-trials to the feature, but being that far back on a tough track to pass on really puts you in a hole.”

Sunday night greeted teams with a very slick surface and a thick cushion, but Hirst again timed in beyond the inversion as he was 22nd fastest, and ultimately had to come from the LCS.

Running third in the LCS, Hirst lined up for the feature in the 22nd spot, and went to work on the cushion, as he crept his way forward.

With the first 20-laps going nonstop, KH again was able to work his way up to the 17th spot, where he would go on to close his weekend out.

“I love Calistoga, and had a blast running there over the weekend,” he said. “I can’t put my finger on where we are lacking speed, but this team never quits, and I can’t thank Dennis and Teresa Roth enough for standing behind us.”

Kyle and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2013.
