CLAY, N.Y. (April 8, 2014) – Racing season is finally here for Joe Trenca, who will hit the track this weekend for a doubleheader in Pennsylvania.
Trenca kicks off his season this Saturday during the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints season opener at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove.
“First, we’re going to try to shake the car down and make sure everything is going good,” he said. “It’s racing season so we’re there to win this weekend.”
The lone time Trenca has competed at Selinsgrove Speedway was May of last year.
“We made it into the main,” he said. “We missed the setup a little bit, but we learned a lot from the track.”
Trenca will wrap up his weekend on Sunday with his debut at Susquehanna Speedway Park in Newberrytown.
“I’ve haven’t heard much besides turns three and four get slick,” he said. “We’re not quite sure what to expect. I’m going there open minded and we’ll see how we do in hot laps and what the rest of the night brings.”
Regardless of his lack of experience at the two big tracks, Trenca said it will be key to get off to a good start.
“Being so young and racing with the older guys and stiff competition, sometimes you go to big races just hoping to make the race,” he said. “My attitude has changed and my mindset is that we’re going there to win. Hopefully it’ll be a good year by starting off with a top five or a top 10.”
