From Greg Alexander Racing
(San Pedro, CA, April 10, 2014) San Pedro, California’s Greg Alexander is set to unveil a brand new race car this Saturday night, April 12th, at the “So Cal Sprint Car Spectacular” at Perris Auto Speedway. Alexander will be competing in the Amsoil USAC/CRA portion of the triple header program that also includes the World of Outlaw and PAS Senior Sprint Cars. Spectator gates will open at 4:00 pm and the first race will begin shortly after 7:00.
“The new chassis is a Racecrafter and it was built by Jake Hodges in Simi Valley,” Alexander said on Wednesday afternoon. “He used to race at Ventura back in 2007 or 08. This is not only brand new, but it is the first one built. He has come up with some cool new ideas and I am going to try it out Saturday and see how it is. We have not had it on the track yet. We are going out there “cold turkey.” Hopefully we will have a good weekend. I want to break that top five barrier with CRA. I have not gotten past that yet.”
In addition to the new chassis, the Chuck Tyler Motorsports #72 will be powered by a different engine than in 2013. The new combination has Alexander, who will turn 25-years-old on April 19th, excited at the prospects.
“We have a Gaerte Engine that we got out of Minnesota,” he said. “It is putting about 60 more horsepower than our old engine so it should be pretty stout. It is pretty similar to what Mark & Steve (Alexander) are running in their car.”
Alexander has some extra impetus to do well in 2014 as it will be the last year for the Chuck Tyler Motorsports Team before Chuck Sr. and Jr. hang up their owner’s hats.
“We plan on making all of the Perris races and maybe a couple out town shows,” the excited driver declared. “We will definitely be at the May 10 Ventura USAC/CRA race. We are going to kind of take it one race at a time. This is going to be Chuck & Chuck’s final season. They are going to sell everything at the end of the year. We are going to try and make the most of it and have them go out with a bang. We may also throw a 360 in it and run it a couple of times. We will just have to see how it all irons out.”
For the 2014 season, the Chuck Tyler Motorsports entry was sponsored by Racecrafters Chassis Design, Construction & Repairs, Barnes Systems, Amsoil, Oiltwins.com, CSI Shocks, SC Grafix and Scott Daloisio Sports.
