– Making his first appearance at the Ocean Speedway in 2014 on Friday night, Jonathan Allard pocketed a second finish during the Ocean Sprints Presented By Taco Bravo season opener before a flat tire, and mechanical issues ended his night in Placerville, CA.

Timing his Tri-C Machine/BR Motorsports/ButlerBuilt backed entry in second fastest in qualifying time-trials, Allard finished third in his heat race, earning a spot in the night’s re-draw, where he pulled the number one.

Starting on the pole of the feature event on what was an extremely slick Ocean Speedway that saw the drivers fight for the bottom, Allard got the jump on Brent Kaeding, and looked to have a very strong machine.

Keeping Kaeding at bay for opening circuits, Allard focused on hitting his marks, until he went through a hole on the 10th lap, and his machine got a little out of shape, and Kaeding was able to take over the top spot.

Gathering his machine up, Allard was still in the second spot, but on this night, passing was at a premium.

When the dust settled on the event, Allard crossed the stripe in the second spot.

Returning to action with the King of the West Series on Saturday night, Allard timed his machine in 19th fastest, putting him in a hole off the bat.

A fourth place effort in his heat propelled him into the feature event, but the Chico, CA driver would have his work cut out for him, as he started near the rear of the field.

When the race went green, Allard slowly began working his way through traffic, but the flow of the race was slowed by a few caution flags.

At the halfway point, Allard’s night would come to an end, as he came to a stop with mechanical woes, and a flat tire.

“If it was not for bad luck, we would not have any luck,” Allard said. “We will roll our sleeves up and keep digging, and hopefully we can get Clyde and Marion’s machine up front on a consistent basis.”

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-10, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2.

ON TAP: Allard and his team will be in action on Saturday night at the Petaluma Speedway with the Civil War Series, and they are still deciding on a race Friday night.
