NEW CASTLE, Ind.—April 20, 2014— Being fast “right off the truck” and keeping that speed throughout the entire racing program is what every driver and team strives for each time they unload their car at the track. Tracy Hines achieved that on Saturday, April 19, at the famed Eldora Speedway in Ohio, as he was second-fastest in hot laps, third-quickest in time trials, won his heat race from the sixth starting position, and came home third in the 30-lap main event for the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series.

Hines lined up fifth in the Don Branson/Jud Larson Classic aboard The Carolina Nut Company DRC and found himself third by the fifth circuit. The veteran driver tapped the wall once while battling for the second spot, and wound up running third for the remainder of the race. A pair of red flag periods and one caution slowed the proceedings. The third-place finish for Hines was his second podium of the young season.

“We had a solid night from start to finish,” said Hines. “It was a challenging track, so to get another podium finish is great for our team. Our goal is to win every night, but with how tough the competition is right now, finishing on the podium is nothing to hang your head about. We feel pretty good with our program right now, especially heading into the next couple of weeks with a handful of races.”

The night opened at Eldora for the native of New Castle, Ind., by turning a lap of 15.331-seconds in time trials, which was third-best of the 31 entries at the high-banked half-mile. With the fastest six cars in each heat race inverted, Hines lined up sixth in the third heat. He charged to the front and won that eight-lap contest over fellow Indiana native Jon Stanbrough. This would put Hines on the inside of the third row for the A-Feature, where he would finish third.

In four starts with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series in 2014, Hines has three finishes of sixth or better. He is currently sixth in the series standings, 21 markers out of the top-five.

Hines returns to action with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series on Friday, April 25 at Gas City (Ind.) Speedway, followed by a trip to Tri-State Speedway, also in his home state of Indiana, on Saturday, April 26.
