– Coming off of a very tough weekend with the USAC National Dirt Midget Series, Isaac Chapple and his team put the pieces back together and headed to Gas City, IN on Friday night where Chapple put together a very nice run to secure a second place finish.
“It was a great weekend considering the weekend we had in Kokomo, IN,” Chapple said. “I was pretty sore, but we were able to get things put together and come back and race.”
Heat race action saw Chapple line his CFH Enterprises/AR Jackson Plumbing/Brown’s Roofing entry up on the outside of the front row, and when the race went green, the Wilkinson, IN driver shot out to the lead, never looking back as he picked up the win putting him in the feature event.
Finding himself on the pole of the feature event, Chapple again got off to a great start, as he grabbed the lead aboard his Quality Walls and Ceilings/VMS Motorsports/Ultimate Off Road entry, with a couple of drivers hot on his tail.
The battle for the lead heated up on the fifth lap, and Chapple ultimately gave the top spot to Chett Gherke.
Not letting Gherke out of his sight, Chapple continued to chase after him while running in the second spot, and though he gave Gherke a couple of looks, he was unable to complete a pass, and settled for the second spot.
“I will take second and build on it,” he said. “You obviously want to win, but it’s early and we are still learning. I can’t thank everyone for all of their help this week, and at the track.”
