Steven Tiner Has Nightmare Of A Weekend

PETERSEN MEDIA

Steven Tiner lived a nightmare over the weekend. He had a weekend that he can simply ‘pull a tear off’ on and move forward. Friday night Tiner was on the move before a spin knocked him out of contention, and on Saturday night, the Visalia, CA driver was involved in a lap one incident that got him upside-down.

“It was just not a good weekend,” Tiner said. “The cards did not fall our way, and it’s unfortunate because I think we had great cars both nights.”

Taking in the opening night at the Ocean Speedway with the Taco Bravo Series, Steven Tiner struggled a little in time trials, as he timed his Wright Process/Larry Davis Farms No. 94 entry in 11th fastest.

Starting on the pole of his heat, Tiner cruised to the win, and earned a spot in the night’s redraw, where the six pill put him in the third row for the feature event, on the extremely slick surface.

With nearly all drivers working the extreme bottom of the speedway, Tiner seemed to be the lone ranger off that groove and searching for his own. Seemingly finding something in the middle of the track to his liking, Tiner slowly began gaining positions.

TIner’s run lasted 10-laps though, as he lost the handle on his machine, forcing him to the back, where he would wind up with an 18th place finish.

Bolting a 410ci power plant into his STR machine on Saturday night, Tiner headed to the Placerville Speedway to compete with the King of the West Series.

With 35 cars on hand, Tiner timed his machine in 18th fastest, putting him behind the heat race inversion.

Lining up fifth in his heat race, Tiner was able to dodge a huge pile up in front of him, and went on score a third place finish, putting him in the feature event, though he lined up in the 8th row.

At the start of the feature, trouble ensued, and contact from another competitor sent Tiner’s machine upside down, and ending his night.

“It’s part of the sport, but you hope to never really have these kinds of weekends,” Tiner says. “We will get to work, and come out next week looking to redeem ourselves.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, Elma Lanes, Harvest Supply, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, Dan Olson Race Products, Sander Engineering, Sweet Manufacturing, Good Ridge, Schoenfeld, Western Metal Company, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2013 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-6, Wins-0, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-3

ON TAP: Tiner will for sure be in action on Saturday night at the Petaluma Speedway for the Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster event, and is hoping he can make a return trip to the Ocean Speedway on Friday night.
