(San Pedro, CA, May 1, 2014)   San Pedro, California’s Greg Alexander returns to Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday, May 3rd, for the second time this year in his new Racecrafters car.  First time out in the new ride Alexander moved from his 19th place starting spot to finish 12th in the 30-lap Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car main event before a packed house on April 12th.

Alexander, who celebrated his 25th birthday on April 19th, put the gorgeous white #72 on the track for the first time on April 12th.  In qualifying he only timed in 19th of the 28 cars who turned in laps on the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval.  He followed that up with a sixth place run in his 10-lap heat race and that put him in the 12-lap B-main.    Alexander needed to finish in the top 10 in the B-main to earn his ticket to the 30-lap feature.  Noticeably quicker, he took a hard earned fourth in the B.

“We are real happy with the new car,” the affable driver said after the race.  “It took us all night to find the real happy spot for it, but we did for the main event.”

For the star studded main, he started 19th, which was inside the 10th row.  Driver and car looked smooth in the early portion of the affair and about a third of the way into the race, everything came together all at once.

“We were real happy with performance of the car in the main event,” Alexander said.  “We got on a roll on the eighth or ninth lap and started to do well up on the cushion.  We were moving forward and passing cars, but around the 15th lap the brakes gave up.  I was a little disappointed we did not get more, but I could not get into the cushion as hard once the brakes were done.”

When all was said and done, Alexander picked up seven spots and ended up 12th in the main in his first race of the 2014 campaign.

Things will be busier for the driver and his Chuck Tyler Motorsports Team in May as they have three races on their schedule.  After this Saturday night at Perris, they head to a track where Alexander has won four main events in the past, the beach side Ventura Raceway.  The race will be the first for the prestigious Amsoil USAC/CRA Series at the track since 2009.  The veteran team and its fast driver will close the month back at Perris for the Annual Salute to Indy on May 24th

The team is pleased to announce that a brand new sponsor, Justin Glass’ Southwest Scale Chassis, has come aboard for the 2014 campaign.

Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM on Saturday and the first race will be at 7:00.  Perris Auto Speedway is located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds just off the 215 in Riverside County.

For the 2014 season, the Chuck Tyler Motorsports entry was sponsored by Racecrafters Chassis Design, Construction & Repairs, Barnes Systems, Amsoil, Oiltwins.com, CSI Shocks, SC Grafix, Southwest Scale Chassis and Scott Daloisio Sports.
