Knoxville, IA — (May 13, 2014) — One tenth of a second in racing is an eternity.

Big Game Motorsports driver Craig Dollansky was on the wrong side of that tenth last weekend when his combined qualifying efforts at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis., and at Knoxville Raceway equaled less than one tenth of a second out of starting up front.

“We’re just really trying to get a handle on our race car, on our shock program and getting acclimated with a new team,” he said. “We definitely aren’t where we need to be, but we’re going to keep working at it.”

The Big Game Treestands team kicked off last weekend on Friday with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series at Wilmot Raceway. Dollansky qualified 17 th quickest – only 0.044 of a second out of the heat race inversion.

Rather than start on the pole of his heat race, Dollansky started fifth on the tiny track.

“On that particular track it puts you behind,” he said. “It sure seemed difficult to make forward progress. There were some things that we didn’t do to get ourselves qualified better.”

Dollansky finished where he started in his heat race to advance to the main event, which he started on the inside of the ninth row.

“If we could have cleared a car or two quicker we could have advanced into the top 10,” he said. “We really didn’t have the night we wanted. That’s the smallest track we were on all year. We just weren’t prepared for the amount of stagger you needed to roll around that place.”

The Big Game Treestands team ended with a 14th-place result.

Qualifying was key the following night at Knoxville Raceway, where Dollansky timed in ninth quickest – only 0.053 of a second out of eighth place, which would have started him on the pole of the main event if he advanced through his heat race.

Dollansky maneuvered from fourth to second place to transfer through his heat race. He then lined up ninth in the main event after missing the inversion by one qualifying spot.

“We just didn’t have very good speed at Knoxville,” he said. “It was kind of a struggle all night for us. We tried some things to try to make our program stronger. I think we found some things we won’t do next time.”

Dollansky picked up a trio of positions to place sixth in the feature.

The Big Game Treestands team will return to Knoxville Raceway this Saturday and will make their season debut at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., on Sunday after last weekend’s race was rained out.
