Little Rock AR — (May 13, 2014) — Derek Hagar scored another top 10 last Saturday at I-30 Speedway.

Despite tough track conditions, Hagar rallied to post a seventh-place result on the wet bullring. It marked his eighth top 10 in nine races this season.

“There wasn’t a whole lot of passing,” he said. “You knew you were pretty much going to finish where you started. The track was so narrow. You really couldn’t do much racing.”

After lining up on the inside of the third row for his heat race, Hagar was forced to rally from the back after being caught up in an early crash.

“There was a bit of a mishap,” he said. “We got spun out on the start and had to go to the back. We came up to third dodging the bullets. The track was real heavy and real rough so it made for some difficult driving.”

Hagar’s third-place result put him eighth in overall points, which started him on the outside of the fourth row for the main event.

“I backed up early,” he said. “The car was really, really tight. I couldn’t get the front end to stick. We had the car too tight. As the race went on the fuel load burned off and the track gave up a little bit so I was able to start passing some cars.”

Hagar rebounded to post the seventh-place finish.

He is slated to compete at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., this Saturday for the Hooker Hood Classic, which is one of the biggest races in Hagar’s home state that he hasn’t won.

“It’s time for one I guess,” he said. “Hooker Hood was from the Memphis area and he was a legend.”

Hagar has won both of his races at Riverside International Speedway this season, including his first career Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour triumph on May 3 during the Eagle Motorsports Rock ‘N Roll 50 Presented by MyRacePass.
