Saturday night at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA, King of the West point leader, Kyle Hirst broke through and picked up his first KWS win, and second overall for the 2014 season.

“It was great to get a KWS win for everyone,” Hirst said. “I made a bonehead move in the Dash, and the boys worked hard and gave me a great car for the feature.”

With 25 King of the West 410ci sprint cars on hand at the exciting speedway, Hirst timed his Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle entry third fastest, putting him in the night’s third heat race.

Starting in the second row of his heat, the Sacramento, CA driver turned Chico, CA resident was on the move as he stormed into the lead, and picked up the win, solidifying his spot in the feature, as well as the night’s Dash.

In the Dash, Hirst got upside down in his entry, and lined up for the feature event in the fourth row, on the extremely slick, and abrasive surface.

For much of the race, Hirst found himself in the fifth spot, as the track began taking rubber early, and passing became pretty slim as that happened.

The waning laps saw drivers begin to fight flat tires, and Hirst held strong as he conserved his for the last part of the race.

With five to go, Hirst took advantage of a double file restart, and turned up the wick, as he advanced into the second spot, chasing after leader, Carson Macedo.

In the second spot, Hirst took advantage of Macedo’s machine missing a beat, and took the lead, and never looked back as he stormed to his first series win of the year.

“It is awesome to finally break through and get my first 410ci win at the Thunderbowl,” Hirst said. “It was a tough race with the rubber, and you had to fall in line, but we were there at the end, and had enough tire and fuel to get the job done. I can’t thank Dennis and Teresa Roth enough the opportunity I have driving this 83 car.”

Kyle and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2013.
