Merlin, ON — (August 23, 2014) — It took Kyle Patrick nine years between his first and second career feature wins at South Buxton Raceway.
It only took three weeks between wins number two and three.
In fact, the Tilbury Tornado won back-to-back races, as Saturday’s win in the Ontario Topless Sprints was the first time Patrick has been behind the wheel since his Aug. 2 Southern Ontario Sprints victory at South Buxton Raceway.
And just like his SOS victory, it took a brilliant pass for Patrick to take the lead, this time getting by Warren Mahoney after a great six-lap battle as he went on to post his first wingless victory.
Tyler Hendricks’ debut at South Buxton, however, only lasted three laps as he was involved in a double-rollover in the second heat race. Dick Mahoney hit the wall near the flag stand, rode the fence, barrel-rolled mid-air and landed on Hendricks’ machine, which also rolled.
Both drivers were unhurt but their cars were done for the night.
