Port Royal, PA — (April 27, 2015) — The 2016 Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal Speedway will be bigger and better than ever in conjunction with the Weikert family.

Oval officials and the Weikert family announced an expanded version of the prestigious race at the 2015 event on Saturday night.

The new format and program is slated to take place over the Memorial Day holiday weekend next season, May 28 and 29, 2016.

“You all be here next year, pack your coolers and your campers and we’re gonna’ have some damn fun!”

Those were the words Todd Weikert exclaimed as he broke the news to the crowd on hand for the 12th running of the race on Saturday.

The new two-day format opens up significant possibilities for promotion of the event with details still to be determined.

But any way you look at it, the 2016 Bob Weikert Memorial is going to be the sprint car event of the holiday weekend and one of the biggest of the season anywhere and Port Royal will be the place to be.

“This expansion of dad’s race is just the logical next step that we wanted to take with Port Royal to honor my dad in a way that is most fitting,” said Todd Weikert Saturday night.

“My dad was always about doing things bigger and better and being proud of what you do in racing and in life and that’s what we are trying for with this big program.”

“My dad would love this,” Weikert said.

Details regarding this big event will be ironed out in the coming months and released upon their completion.
