(Lebanon, IN) Dameron Taylor jumped to the point on lap 2 of the Mel Kenyon Midget Series race at US 24 Speedway Saturday and never looked back. Taylor would lead the remaining laps in the 30-lap midget feature. Taylor started the race on the inside of the 2nd row behind pole sitter Logan Huggler making short work of Kent Kriegbaum who started on the outside of row 1. Taylor made his move coming off turn four on lap 2 to pass Huggler for the lead. Throughout the middle of the race the show came from Ashlea Albertson trying to track down Taylor while Kyle O’Gara charged from the tail following a spin to join Albertson in the hunt for Taylor. O’Gara picked the cushion while Albertson took the bottom. “I heard him (O’Gara) up there and I know he likes the top. I saw his wheel once and knew the pressure was on,” commented Taylor. O’Gara jumped the cushion and his night came to a close. Albertson finished a strong 2nd, with Simpson World Indy Rookie Cole Roberson earning his first Mel Kenyon Midget Series top five finish by nabbing the third position. Hugger and Ryan Huggler filled out the top five. Taylor continues to hold the top spot in the Mel Kenyon Midget Series point battle with a 50 point lead over Albertson. Logan Huggler, Kent Kriegbaum and O’Gara round out the top five in points. The Mel Kenyon Midget Series returns to pavement racing Saturday June 13 at Anderson Speedway. Wrestling Hall of Famer Rikishi will highlight a wrestling card from 3 to 5 with racing schedule to begin at 8 PM featuring the Mel Kenyon Midget Series, CRA late M ode Stocks Cars and the CRA Street Stocks.
